Album Review #1: Mike Posner – At night, Alone

After a couple of years in the studio and where ever Mike’s been he’s come back with full force with his first single off this album remixed by SEEB.

Now this is not an album that I would usually listen to, but after his renditions in the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge I thought I’d give it a go.  Now I’m happy that I gave this album ago and I would class it as a chill
album. It is calm and mellow, and nothing at all like Cooler Than Me released in 2009  which is an advantage for an artist like Mike Posner, because behind all the electro pop, there is a voice there – a real talent.

Now it is full of ballads that I had no idea he could pull off, pouring out his heart to his listeners. But after having to listen to 11 of these tracks, you do start to wonder, what has taken him 6/7 years in the studio to produce this… It is such a shame, cause he does have a voice, but the songs do not help him, there needs to be a bit of variety.

I had higher hopes when i first heard “I Took A Pill In Ibiza” and then around half way it all started to go downhill.

I’ll give this one a 4/10 slightly low I know, but I’ll go and cheer my ears up by listening to the new Skepta album..
